R32 vs R410A Regulatory Audit
Field Status: The Singapore National Environment Agency (NEA) is actively phasing down high-GWP refrigerants. R32 is A2L (mildly flammable), whereas R410A is A1 (non-flammable). Audit your recovery tools before proceeding with upgrades.
Using R32 in systems not designed for it, or cross-contaminating during recovery, risks catastrophic failure or explosion. Audit your recovery cylinders and tool sets before proceeding with residential split-system upgrades.

Regulatory Comparison
R32 offers lower GWP (~675) compared to R410A (~2088), but its A2L flammability requires specialized flare tools and leak-checking procedures.
| Characteristic | R410A (A1) | R32 (A2L) |
|---|---|---|
| Flammability | Non-Flammable | Mildly Flammable |
| GWP | 2,088 | 675 |
| NEA Status | Phase-Down | Preferred |
Diagnostic Gateway Challenge
You are servicing an R32 unit. Why must you use specialized flare tools and a torque wrench rather than just re-using existing R410A fittings?
