Is Daikin better than Trane? [THE TRUTH]

Both Daikin and Trane are brands that are most well-known for their household appliance products. Daikin prides itself on leading the aircon market in innovative ways, whereas Trane prides itself on providing heating, air conditioning, and ventilating solutions for everyone. You may ask, is Daikin better than Trane?

Both brands produce air conditioners, heat pumps, and furnaces. Daikin and Trane’s ways to serve the commercial markets are also different. In the end, though, we will see which one is better among Daikin and Trane.

First thing first, let us look at how each of the aircon they produce is different:

Daikin vs trane air conditioner reviews

Aircon is a household appliance product that can pop up in our minds if we think about Daikin, Trane, or other similar brands. Since aircon is the most popular product for Daikin and Trane, no wonder we can say both can be excellent leaders in air conditioning products.

Japan is the country where Daikin’s founder found Daikin, and Japan is a part of Asian countries. On the other hand, Trane is from Ireland, a Western country. It means Daikin is more well-known in Asia, and Trane is more popular in Western countries. However, the differences between the two don’t only stop in the countries they have the most market scopes.

Daikin uses energy-saving technologies for all of its aircon products. Additionally, they use the environmentally friendly R32 freon. As a result, their aircon products become efficient in terms of the Coefficient of Performance (CoP). Their prices are on the cheap side compared to other aircon brands.

On the other side, stability is the middle name of Trane’s aircon products. Their fewer amounts of HVAC systems’ breakdowns are some of the proofs. If you buy any of Trane’s air conditioning products, you will get 20-year guarantees, which are five years more than other brands’ 15-year guarantees.

Daikin vs trane heat pumps

Even though both products are known for their aircon products, both also provide solutions for heating. Heat pumps, the machine products for transmitting heat, are some of the products that Daikin and Trane sell commercially.

We measure heat pumps’ performance using the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) and the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) benchmarks. We use the former to measure heating efficiencies in hotter environments, while the latter measure cooling efficiencies in chilly places.

Trane has a higher HSPF of 12 than Daikin’s 10 points of HSPF. This score means Trane is better for warming up our bodies if we’re in hotter rooms or environments. The proprietary coils that disperse and collect heat easily support such strengths that Trane has. Not to forget the heat pumps have unique shapes in that they resemble an aluminum bottle brush.

Meanwhile, Daikin prizes itself for the proprietary coils that are easier to clean than Trane’s. Seven of Daikin’s heat pumps offer more SEER ranges, from 15 to 21. Such scores are higher than Trane’s 14-20 SEER scores, which means Daikin’s heat pump’s cooling abilities are more proficient in colder environments than Trane’s.

Daikin vs trane furnace

Heat pumps aren’t the only heating solutions that Daikin and Trane provide. Furnaces, the tools for melting steels, are yet other appliances that we can compare between Daikin and Trane’s performances.

Daikin’s furnaces are better in the pricing and warrantee systems than Trane. First of all, they have 12-year warranties, which are two years ahead of Trane’s 10-year warranties.

If your Daikin furnaces broke down in any of these warranty periods, you can get replacements for any parts as much as you’d like because Daikin guarantees the whole parts instead of the individual parts. Apart from the long warranty periods and broad warranty scopes, Daikin’s furnace prices are more economical than Trane’s.

Trane’s furnaces can overpower Daikin’s furnaces in terms of features. Most of Daikin’s furnaces only provide multi-speed blower motors, which are available for every Trane’s furnace product.

The variable-speed blowers in Trane have even more distinctive percentage ranges of 80-90%, which give us clear pictures of the performances when thinking of buying them.

Daikin vs trane commercial

“Commercial” here means the ways Daikin and Trane provide solutions for commercial purposes instead of individual ones.

Some examples of commercial solutions include air conditioners for commercial buildings and system control software. Any solutions that improve the air quality, lighting, and thermal comfort of the building also fall into the “Commercial” category.

Both brands have unique strengths in their ways of providing services and relevant products in commercial scopes. Yet, one has to be better than the others when we are to compare them.

Daikin’s championship in air conditioning products doesn’t stop in those that are for household purposes. In terms of commercial purposes, Daikin has the SkyAir and VRV systems. The SkyAir offers customizable design flexibilities, while the VRV systems let the users control the individual zones of every building.

Those two features make Daikin specializes in providing commercial aircon solutions. However, Trane aims to solve dilutions, exhausts, containings, and cleanings with diverse product types. So, these entire things make Trane has more varieties in their commercial services. Thus, they are more capable than Daikin.

Which is better trane or daikin

We’ve looked at how Daikin and Trane have different strengths in their air conditioners, heat pumps, and furnaces. We’ve also looked at how each of them uses their products and services for commercial buildings. In the end, which one is better among these two? Is Daikin better than Trane?

“Yes” may be the most straightforward answer to the question, “Is Daikin better than Trane?” After all, Daikin’s products and services are among the cheapest in their industries. They are also leaders in the air conditioner marketplaces, particularly in Asian countries. Their higher SEER ranges also make their heat pumps one of the best in cool places.

Nonetheless, durability and diversity are the key strengths Trane has, yet perhaps, Daikin doesn’t. The HVAC systems of Trane’s aircon won’t break easily. In addition, Trane provides diluting, exhausting, containing, and cleaning services for commercial buildings, more than their Daikin counterparts.

So, is Daikin better than Trane? We let you decide for yourself.
